Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed reports suggesting that he is considering leaving the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to emerge as the running mate of former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 general election.
The governor described the claims as unfounded, insisting that his political ambitions remain focused on representing Bauchi South Senatorial District under the platform of the APM.

The clarification follows widespread speculation on social media that Mohammed was being considered for the vice-presidential slot alongside Jonathan by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The rumours gained momentum after a PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki announced Jonathan as its presidential candidate during a gathering held on Saturday.
Jonathan was subsequently ratified as the faction's flag bearer at a special national convention in Abuja. Although the former president was not present at the event, his certificate of return was received on his behalf by Fred Agbedi.
Responding to the reports, Mohammed urged members of the public to disregard the speculation, stressing that he remains committed to his current political plans.

His statement is expected to put to rest speculation surrounding his future political direction, as attention gradually shifts toward alliances and candidate selections ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
